I began creating art  in 2021 whilst recovery from a ruptured brain aneurysm and subsequent surgery.  I chose Pour Me Recovery Art as my studio name to reflect both the circumstances of starting painting and also because it describes the technique I use to create my art, known as Pour Painting, Flow Art or Fluid Art. My home studio is located in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

A couple of months after first starting by watching dozens of Youtube videos, I signed up for the Sheleeart course on how to do blooms and swipes.

Each piece is created by firstly choosing the colours and then mixing either pigments or tube paints with varnish and neutral house paint.  I then place a “pillow” of  house wall paint on either a canvas or art board and then I puddle the mixed colours in various layers

“Cell activator” is placed on top of the puddles of colour and for the bloom technique I gently blow from the centre outwards. If using the swipe technique, I place the cell activator on a spatula or palette knife and swipe it over the colours in various motions. The canvas or board is then spun on a cake spinner. During this part of the process, centrifugal force flings any excess paint off the canvas and also spreads out the composition.
